curatorial
GUISE. en guise de. is a curatorial experiment presenting the works of Mark Clintberg, Pascal Lièvre, Jessica Blanchet, Kate Puxley along the collective ANADAMA regarding loss, absence and hollowness. Individual conversations with the artist on the topic of the void, the finality of relationships and death, brought together artworks, what I would call “replacements”, that crystalize each of their own experience and specific research on the topic of disappearance.
Proposed in a formal, yet thoughtful install, Lièvre’s Deleuzian poster stating the definition of an invisible body, next to Puxley’s podium piece referencing Genesis in LOLCatSpeak, provide alternative allegorical readings of Blanchet’s heartbroken cross-stitching plea along Clintberg and ANADAMA’s invitation to perform channelings. The text-based pieces are displayed in a careful approach that encourages an introspective understanding of each of the artists’ gestures superseding what has vanished, inescapably broaching up the concept of continuity.
